John Brunning
John is a frontline presenter for the UK’s most successful commercial radio station, Classic FM, and currently presents “The Full Works” every weekday between 9.00 PM and midnight.
John has been with the station since it went on air in 1992, and in the course of his career, he has interviewed everyone from Luciano Pavarotti to Harry Enfield, Julian Bream and Angela Gheorghiu.
John's parallel careers in music and radio have been intertwined since the 1970s, when he ran a pirate radio station from his home in Essex. But a raid by the authorities forced a career change in 1975, when he joined seventies chart-toppers, Mungo Jerry, as lead guitarist: remember “In the Summertime”? Whilst he no longer gigs, John is still active as a composer. His most recent successes include composing Pie Jesu for the teenage girl group, “All Angels”, and writing a piece for solo guitar, which Craig Ogden has recorded for a forthcoming release entitled “The Ultimate Guitar Album”.
