Richard Coxon

Richard made his professional operatic debut with Scottish Opera singing Flavio in Norma, subsequently spending three years with the company as Principal tenor where his roles included Nemorino l'elisir d'amore, Don Ottavio Don Giovanni and Alfredo in La Traviata. He has frequently performed at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, Glyndebourne Festival, Opera North and English National Opera where he undertook the role of the Painter in a new production of Lulu to great acclaim

Amongst many international engagements Richard has sung with Opera Zuid, Maastricht, National Reiss Opera, Netherlands, Greek National Opera, Athens Spoleto festival Opera, Italy and New Israeli Opera where he performed the role of Tom Rakewell in The Rakes Progress. In 2004 Richard sang Flute in A Midsummer Nights Dream at the La Monnaie Brussels, and made his American and Canadian debuts with Opera de Montreal ond Florida Grand Opera singing Kudrja's in Katya Kabanova.

Richard has worked with all the major orchestras throughout Great Britain and is a regular on BBC's Radio 2's Friday is Music Night. He has performed the part of Sam in Don Boyd's film entitled Lucia which premiered at the Toronto and Edinburgh film festivals. Richard has recorded a number of Cds for Chandos, working extensively with Richard Hickox. He also can be heard as Dashwood Fox on the DVD of The Cunning Little Vixen under Kent Nagano. Richard has recently completed the filming of The Little Prince directed by Francesca Zambello which is available on CD and DVD.

Future Opera engagements include Pang Turandot Opera Ireland, Pilgrims progress with The Philharmonia Orchestra and the Royal Opera House.

Last year Richard recorded and released his exciting Solo debut Album Quanto Amore. which is a collaboration with producer Mark Woolnough, tracks include Opera Arias and a number of songs written and produced by Richard himself.
