Alison Stephens is considered to be the leading classical mandolin player in the UK. She was the first graduate of mandolin from the Trinity College of Music, London and was appointed as a teacher upon graduation. Following her professional debut, aged 17, in Vivaldi's Mandolin Concerto at the Barbican, London she has played in many venues across the country and around the world. She regularly appears as concerto soloist and in recital with various duos. As well as her solo career, Alison enjoys regular orchestral work with many leading orchestras including the London Symphony Orchestra, the orchestras of the Royal Opera House and English National Opera and the London Sinfonietta. She has just finished a UK Regional & International tour with the Royal Shakespeare Company. She has also broadcast live for BBC Radio 3, 4 and 5, BBC Radio Scotland and Classic FM. Alison's first recording "Music for Mandolin" with Richard Burnett (fortepiano) on the Amon Ra/Saydisc label features the works of Hummel & Beeth oven. Alison has worked on several projects in connection with 'Captain Corelli's Mandolin' including a 'Bookmark' documentary for BBC 2, a sell-out production at the Edinburgh Festival and a CD on the Chandos label with guitarist Craig Ogden "Music from the Novels of Louis de Bernieres - Captain Corelli's Mandolin and the Latin American Trilogy" which sold over 10,000 copies in the first three months of sales.
